I’m Casey Kettmann. I’ve spent 16 years in Catholic education, including 11 years as a principal of a PreK–8 Catholic school.
I know the demands, decisions, and daily challenges that come with leading a school community—because I’ve lived them. I’ve led staff teams, managed multimillion-dollar budgets, strengthened instruction, implemented MTSS, developed schoolwide systems, and worked through the realities of leading a school.
My goal with Ignatius is simple: help Catholic school leaders lead with greater confidence, strengthen their teams, and create lasting improvement without adding another layer of unnecessary complexity.

Through federal equitable-services provisions, eligible private-school educators may be able to participate in certain federally funded professional learning and leadership services through their local public school district.

EXPLORE TITLE II →Catholic school leaders often assume federal education funding is unavailable to them. That is not necessarily the case. Under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), eligible private-school educators can participate in certain federally funded equitable services, including services supported through Title II, Part A.
Title II, Part A is intended to strengthen the effectiveness of teachers, principals, and other school leaders. For eligible Catholic schools, services may include professional development, leadership coaching, instructional training, and other activities that meet federal requirements.
Reach out to the federal programs or Title II contact in your local public school district. Ask how the district handles equitable services for private-school educators and when the annual consultation process takes place.
Go into the consultation process with specific priorities. Identify the professional learning, leadership development, instructional support, or coaching your school actually needs.
Private-school leaders can communicate the types of services and providers that would best address their needs. The public school district remains responsible for administering the funds and determining whether proposed services meet program requirements.
Document consultation meetings, requests, correspondence, proposed services, and decisions. A clear record helps everyone understand what was requested and what was ultimately provided.
Use the opportunity to fund professional learning that connects directly to your school's goals—stronger instruction, leadership capacity, student support systems, data use, and school improvement.
Bring a short list of your school's highest-priority professional-learning needs and explain how those needs connect to student outcomes and school improvement goals.
